Proposing at Bank Rock Boat Landing (Central Park, NYC)
Just on the western edge of the Ramble is Bank Rock Boat Landing. One of multiple gazebos and landings that border the Lake, this structure is relatively new, but still portrays that classic Central Park vibe. You can expect a fantastic backdrop of the Lake, the San Remo apartment building off to the right, and partial views of the skyline.
How do I get to Bank Rock Boat Landing?
The Ramble can be quite difficult to navigate, so plan on using the Oak Bridge as your point of reference. Cross from the west side of the Oak Bridge to the east side (as you are crossing the bridge, you will see the skyline on your right). Once you cross the bridge, take a right. You’ll almost immediately see the stairs that lead down to Bank Rock Boat Landing.
What time should I propose at Bank Rock Boat Landing?
Keep in mind that this spot is located at the Lake, which is one of Central Park’s most popular sites. Fortunately, this section of the Lake isn’t as crowded as other spots, but it’s all relative.
If you are envisioning something a bit more private and intimate, then I absolutely recommend coming here about 45 minutes after sunrise. You can still find privacy a little bit later in the morning on a weekday or in bad weather, but expect crowds to start coming in to the general area shortly after that.
The best lighting is about 1.5 hours before sunset, but expect larger crowds at that time.
What other nearby locations can I use for a post-proposal photoshoot?
After your intimate moment at Bank Rock Boat Landing, head over to the Oak Bridge, embrace the winding paths of the Ramble, or maybe even go to Hernshead Rock. There are so many iconic picturesque spots in the immediate area.
I’d love to propose here. How can I book a proposal photoshoot?
