Proposal Photoshoot Guide

Your proposal journey starts here!

First off, congratulations in advance. It’s probably safe to assume that, if you’re reading this, you’re making preparations to propose to your significant other (S/O), or at the very least, you’ve had the discussion.

Whether you’re local to New York City, live nearby, or are traveling from afar, I’d love to be a part of your milestone moment.

Proposal Photoshoot FAQs

How far in advance should I reach out about a proposal shoot?

Ideally 3-4+ weeks in advance, since proposals require extra planning and coordination.

What’s included in a proposal shoot?

  • Candid captures of the proposal moment

  • Photoshoot immediately following the proposal (typically 30-60 minutes)

  • Planning assistance and support throughout the process

  • Advanced onsite walkthrough*

  • 35-45 edited final images shared via Pixieset gallery

*Shoots scheduled with less than 2 weeks notice may not always be eligible for an onsite walkthrough due to scheduling constraints. Additionally, locations that require permit access may not be accessible until the day of the shoot (depending on permit requirements).

What’s NOT included in a proposal shoot?

Anything not listed above may be an add-on. We’ll go over everything clearly before booking so there are no surprises!

What time should I do my shoot?

Daylight is great, but golden hour (just after sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset) offers the best light. I use only natural light, so no sessions after dark or in low-light locations.

Do you do any elaborate setups on location?

At this time, I do not offer any services involving elaborate setups such as floral arrangements, candles, or signage. Since I’m a one-person show, it’s just me and my camera!

When and how do I receive my photos?

Preview images are typically sent within 24 hours (via text), with the full gallery being sent within 7 days of the shoot (via Pixieset).

Why should I do an onsite walkthrough?

The onsite walkthrough is done to ensure that we can best execute your vision while also cutting out the possibility for error. Since most proposals are surprises, we’ll need to coordinate everything in advance of the actual moment!

What if I can’t make the onsite walkthrough?

If you can’t meet in person, we can do it virtually while I am onsite.

What if we can’t access the location?

We’ll make sure we have a plan B, possibly even a plan C, D, and E! Since I’ll arrive on site well before you do, expect a text confirming whether the location is good to go, or to pivot to one of our predetermined nearby backup spots.

Will you be hidden?

Every proposal is different, but I typically prefer hiding in plain sight directly at the spot (I’ll pose as a tourist with a camera). This allows me to stay close by and do my best to keep the frame clear of other people.

What if it rains?

Rainy proposals are often more intimate and less crowded, so I’m always going to suggest we just go for it! But if you'd rather reschedule, I’m typically flexible.

Do you offer video services?

No, just photography.

What area(s) do you serve?

NYC!

What’s the starting rate for proposal shoots?

$555
